Postgraduate (PG) year

A postgraduate year: one extra year at a U.S. boarding school after finishing secondary school, before college. Common for student-athletes.

Why it matters

It gives a student a year of U.S. academics, a school transcript colleges can read, and a season in front of college coaches, without starting college a year behind in eligibility.
